Welcome to the Henry Ford Elementary School PTA, in Redwood City, CA!
See below for upcoming events and important announcements.
Hello Henry Ford families! As another school year is coming to a close, we will continue to work to support the learning experiences of all Henry Ford students. We are eager to engage with a diverse and mighty community of volunteers to serve students through our various PTA supported programs.
Important Upcoming Dates
Congratulations to everyone on a great school year! Special shout out to the 5th grade promotees -- good luck in middle school!
And huge THANKS to all the volunteers who helped out in the classroom, at events, and behind the scenes. Together with the teachers and administration, we make Henry Ford a special place for our children to learn.
Enjoy your summer, and see you next school year!!
Thurs, Aug 11, 9-11am and 3-5pm -- Maze Day -- Get all of your back to school information at Maze Day, held on-campus. This is your opportunity to wind through each checkpoint (Get it? Maze Day?) to ensure your child is ready to go on the first day of school. Stay tuned for more information and details.
Wed, Aug 17 -- First day of the 2022-2023 school year!
You can still order your yearbook!! Yearbooks can be shipped directly to your home.
Do you have any questions about the yearbook, or want to get in involved in helping out with the yearbook?
Pasta Dinner and Auction wrap up!
We hope you had fun at Pasta Dinner, and maybe even won some great items in the raffle and/or auction!
All the money we earned from this event goes directly back to our students, to fund important programs such as Art in Action, Project Cornerstone, field trips, and so much more!
So many THANK YOUs to go around -- to Roma for the delicious dinner, the Stanford Band for a fun performance, our fantastic DJ Armando and his family who provided music and ran the Book Walk, the high school volunteers for helping out with games, the teachers and staff for serving dinner and helping out with games, our 5th grade Pasta Pals for helping out with dinner, our PE coaches for supervising field games and bringing out the TV for the Warriors game, and to all those who donated items.
And most of all, THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers who brought this event back to campus after a two-year hiatus! This event is entirely volunteer-run, and could not happen without you!
Eat out around town, and earn money for our PTA!
Round Up at Redwood City BBQ
In addition to our monthly Dine Outs, Redwood City BBQ has offered to help us with our continued fundraising effort with their Round Up program.
When orders are placed online, guests will be asked whether they want to round up to the next dollar, and that money will be donated to the Henry Ford PTA!
Check out their menu and website HERE and be sure to ROUND UP!!
Thank you for participating in our last Dine Out, and stay tuned for the next one!
Come volunteer on campus!
We always welcome volunteers in the classroom -- teach Art in Action and Project Cornerstone, chaperone field trips, help out in our Makerspace, and so much more!! No previous experience or expertise necessary, just a desire to hang out with kids in the classroom and help out our teachers.
In order to keep everyone safe on campus, there are some requirements including TB test/questionnaire, government-issued ID, and proof of COVID vaccination.
You can pick up all the necessary forms from the office, and they can help answer any questions.
Or see HERE for online instructions, and see you on campus!
As always, if you have any questions about volunteering, email firstname.lastname@example.org
COVID is still here! Masks are optional but highly encouraged, especially indoors. Keep your student home if they are sick, get vaccinated, and continue COVID-testing regularly.
The FDA approved the 3rd dose for children older than 5 just a week ago. Stanford has appointments already available, but very few clinics offer it at this point. Make sure to check with your pediatrician or on myturn.ca.gov especially if traveling this summer.
Families are invited to submit proof of vaccination here to help our school district in defining policies around testing and isolation.
RCSD has partnered with BayPLS to facilitate on-site COVID-19 testing. Each registered student will be tested once a week. See this flyer for more information from the District.
In order to be tested weekly at school:
1) Make sure your student is registered through Primary Health. Link here
2) Every week, schedule an "appointment" to consent for that week's test. Link here
In addition, there is weekly FREE COVID testing for all RCSD students and staff.
Thursdays 1:45pm -- 4:15pm at Kennedy. See HERE for details.
Free Weekend COVID testing in person by virusgeek - Saturdays and Sundays 9am to 2pm, 3399 Bay Rd, Redwood City, on the corner of Bay Rd and 10th Ave, register on https://www.virusgeeks.com.
Updated isolation/quarantine guidelines - The CA Department of Public Health has updated recommendations related to COVID and isolation. The full policy is available here, but please rely on messaging from our district and school for the latest details.
- Everyone who tests positive needs to isolate at home for at least 5 days, even if without symptoms and even if vaccinated.
- After day 5, if there are no symptoms AND there is a negative test, then the student can return to school. A mask should be worn at all timesaround others for at least 10 days, especially indoors.
- If unable to test or choosing not to test, AND no symptoms are present, isolation can end after day 10.
- If fever is present, isolation should continue until fever resolves.
- Fully vaccinated students that are identified as close contacts who are also asymptomatic do not need to isolate, and may continue to attend school or other activities.
Contact the office if one of your children tests positive. The office can help answer any questions, clarify the guidelines, and assist with testing to allow the child to safely return to school.
New Board position open -- HISTORIAN
The PTA is looking for a volunteer to fill the Historian position.
The Historian will capture the PTA’s annual activities and achievements by submitting a volunteer hours form and giving a report at the April or May PTA meeting. Email Becky Foutch for questions or more info email@example.com
Have extra kids' face masks, or gently used toys?
The school is going through lots of face masks (imagine 400+ students dirtying and breaking face masks!), and is looking for any donations of kids masks!
Doing some fall cleaning and finding any forgotten toys? The school could use any gently used toys as prizes for PBIS and recognition of other good deeds on campus.
Bring any donations to the front office!
Donate today and help fully fund programs at Henry Ford!
Consider making a tax-deductible donation. Any amount is gratefully appreciated and will make a difference.
